FAQs

WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?

Our special laminated cotton fabric is sourced responsibly from Korea and Japan (though our SCRIPT fabric was made entirely in the USA!). We cut tablecloths in our basement studio for our home sewers to finish. Bags and aprons are cut and sewn by Cassidy and Hong in their Seattle area shops.

WHAT IS THE COATING MADE OUT OF?

It’s a water-based urethane. This protective layer is rolled out in the factory and heat-set to the cotton, as opposed to using nasty chemicals. The result is a creamy, durable, soft, and all-around yummy-feeling fabric. It is made out of materials that will eventually biodegrade, but that won't happen until you are long done using it.

IS THIS OILCLOTH?

Yes, and no. It’s an updated, eco-friendly version. For more information about our fabric-making process and the nature of the oilcloth coating, check out our fabrics page.

IS IT SHINY?

All of the fabrics we have designed and printed ourselves (ALKI, JUANITA, RAVENNA, VINTAGE, CYPRESS, ORCAS, WHIDBEY, BLUEBERRY, ICING, and CHERRY), as well as SCRIPT, have a matte finish. This makes them just as soft, luscious, and non-reflective as any normal fabric.

We are trying to phase out our shiny fabrics, but any of the patterns not listed above will have a shiny, laminated reflection to them. They still hang and act like normal fabric, and some people (especially kids) really like this look!

CAN I LEAVE MY TABLECLOTH OUTSIDE IN THE HOT SUN FOR WEEKS ON END?

NO!

We encourage daily use, but prolonged UV light can cause the coating to yellow. So unless it is in the shade, please bring your tablecloth inside between uses to keep it looking fresh and vibrant.

CAN I WASH IT?

YES!

But mostly, you don’t have to. We recently washed out a blotch of dried blood by scrubbing on the cotton back side. It came out beautifully.

If you get a stubborn spot, just soak it in the sink with a little soap, and scrub it on the cotton side until it washes out.

Pen marks come off with goo-off or similar products. Those may be the only ones you can't wash out eventually.

CAN I IRON IT?

Yes, on the cotton side. We recommend a lower heat setting, though most wrinkles and creases will naturally relax out over time.

WILL BARBECUE SPARKS RUIN MY APRON?

No. These are awesome BBQ aprons. We have tried to burn one, and it takes a lot before the cotton starts to burn. It even works as a hotpad!

WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP?

We try to be on it daily, but sometimes we go hiking or need to make it for you. This can take a few days.

DO YOU DESIGN THE FABRIC?

Yes, we do!  Look for VINTAGE - that was our first. What an adventure into historic imagery, roosters, and Photoshop! When I got the first strike-offs, then actual yardage, I cried real tears for this dream come true. Of course, I couldn't have done it with our my trusty designer, Christine Joly De Lotbiniere.

Next we added TILE prints - CYPRESS, ORCAS, and WHIDBEY.  They're named after our beautiful Northwest islands in Puget Sound where we spend time in the summers kayaking and camping.

We've recently taken a dive into designing kid prints with the SOCKIES collection - BLUEBERRY, CHERRY, and ICING! Whether you're young or just young at heart, these cute sock-creatures bring a cute sophistication to any part of your home.

Our newest prints are the BLOOM series - ALKI, RAVENNA, and JUANITA.

CAN I TAKE MY BAG DOWN THE GRAND CANYON?

YES!  We did. It made a great day-bag on the river. Any river. Or a hike, a city park, your back yard... They keep the rain, mud splashes and coffee spills out, no matter where you take them!

CAN I CONTACT YOU IF I HAVE A QUESTION OR PROBLEM?

Always. You can email me, the owner, at tracy@impwear.com. You can also call me at 206-947-1224. It's my personal cell phone (PST). :)

CAN I SELL THESE FABULOUS ITEMS IN MY STORE?

Of course! Our wholesale page is coming very soon, but contact us or one of our reps and we'll get you all set up.
